Elaine received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Bachelor of Psychology degree from the University of Southern Maine. Elaine has been in nursing since 1982 and has had experience in ICU, Cardiac Care, Birthing Floor, Orthopedic, Medical & Surgical Units, Home Health Care and Wellness Clinics throughout the state. Her love of teaching is what brought her to the diabetes field in 1986 and she became a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) in 1990.
Elaine was a one-woman-show for the Outpatient and Inpatient Diabetes Programs until 2002 when she assisted in expanding her diabetes program into The Diabetes and Endocrine Center. Elaine was also instrumental in starting a wound care program in the hospital and adjacent nursing home which evolved into the Wound Care Center. Elaine was involved in a pilot program to bring her hospital and affiliated physicians Maine's 'Target Diabetes' Program.
Elaine has two children and is an avid skier, ski racer, enjoys reading, sailing, hiking, gardening, walking and most anything to do with the outdoors. Her favorite motto is "Keep moving forward!"
