Karen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and a Master of Arts in Community Health Education from Kent State University. She is a registered licensed dietitian and certified diabetes educator, and senior manager of the clinical education staff and certified insulin pump trainers for Liberty Medical. Karen has 30 years of experience in the health care field.
Prior to her position at Liberty, Karen was a consulting dietitian in private practice and adjunct faculty member for Indian River Community College. She developed and managed an ADA Recognized diabetes education program for Martin Memorial Healthcare System. She was also selected by Bristol Meyer Squibb to participate in their DKE project - Diabetes Knowledge Exchange.
Karen's interest in diabetes education was triggered by her niece's type 1 diagnosis at the age of 12.
