Regina received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She became interested in diabetes early in life, as she had many family members with the disease. Her own daughter was diagnosed with type I at the age of seven.
Regina worked at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater where she founded a structured diabetes education program and conducted diabetes classes there for 30 years. Regina took the Certified Diabetes Educator exam the first year it was given (1986) and has continued to keep her certification active through the years.
She left the hospital to oversee a diabetes education program for a company that makes glucose meters. She now works as a part-time consultant, presenting diabetes education programs to patients and professionals.
