American Diabetes Month®
November is American Diabetes Month®. Throughout the month (and every day of the year), Liberty Medical joins the American Diabetes Association to help bring awareness to this disease that affects nearly 24 million people in the United States.
In observance of American Diabetes Month, Liberty Medical Supply, Inc., a Medco Health Solutions, Inc., company, and the American Diabetes Association have released the following collection of online educational videos to give diabetes patients practical tips and advice for living with the disease. The video collection, produced and sponsored by Liberty®, features Dr. Sue Kirkman, Vice President of Clinical Affairs of the American Diabetes Association.
Topics covered include symptoms and risks of diabetes, weight management tips, exercise tips, an overview of insulin delivery methods, tips on caring for a parent, and understanding the ABCs of diabetes —A1C, blood pressure, and cholesterol measurements. Please feel free to share these videos with others to help educate the public.
According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes has reached epidemic proportions with nearly 24 million children and adults currently living with the diabetes and another 57 million Americans with pre-diabetes. The disease leads to life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and amputation.
Liberty joins the American Diabetes Association in encouraging the public to participate in the organization's new campaign called Stop DiabetesSM to support the search for a cure. To learn more, visit www.stopdiabetes.com.
